    BMW X6 Returns: 530hp V8, Rs 1.78 Crore

BMW relaunches the X6 in India as a single M60i xDrive variant at Rs 1.78 crore, packing a 530hp twin-turbo V8 that makes it the most powerful coupe-SUV in the segment.

His enthusiasm for tech saw him take up reviewing consumer gadgets and soon enough he became the founding editor of Unboxed Magazine. Afzal loves slow travel (something the fast-paced nature of his job tries hard to steer him away from) and is often seen trying to eke out some time for a leisurely stroll through some of the amazing places he visits. He likes to believe that even though he is a tech and automotive connoisseur, he can step back enough from the products he reviews to provide much-needed context. He has shied away from being on camera for most of his career, but is now slowly but certainly spending more time in front of one, nudged by his extremely photogenic cat, Bailey.

BMW has relaunched the X6 in India at Rs 1.78 crore (ex-showroom), bringing it back to the coupe-SUV segment after a hiatus with a single, fully loaded variant: the M60i xDrive.

The X6’s return is significant for two reasons. First, BMW isn’t easing it back in with a base trim — the M60i is the only version on offer, and it comes in as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU). Second, with 530hp on tap, it is the most powerful model in its segment, edging out rivals like the Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS, and Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe.

Under the bonnet sits a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid assistance, producing 530hp and 750Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic gearbox sends power to all four wheels via a rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Supporting hardware includes rear-wheel steering, adaptive M suspension, and an M Sport differential. BMW claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h.

The X6 retains its signature coupe-SUV silhouette — a sloping roofline over a wide, muscular body measuring 4,960mm long, 2,004mm wide, and 1,700mm tall, on a 2,975mm wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 216mm, and boot space checks in at 580 litres. Up front, adaptive LED headlamps flank a blacked-out kidney grille. M-branded red brake calipers, 21-inch dual-tone alloys, and quad exhaust tips round out the M60i-specific detailing. Six paint options are available, with BMW Individual customisation on offer for those who want to go further.

Inside, a 14.9-inch infotainment display and 12.3-inch digital driver’s display sit behind a single curved glass surface running iDrive 8.5. Standard kit includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, powered and ventilated front seats, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. Massaging front seats and an Alcantara headliner are optional.

The X6 always sold on the strength of its polarising looks and performance credentials. Returning with segment-leading power, BMW has made it clear this isn’t a tentative comeback — the outstanding question is whether the CBU pricing gives the Cayenne Coupe GTS room to breathe.
