If there is one thing Carl Pei knows how to do, it is how to hijack a news cycle. Less than 24 hours after Apple announced its “Special Experience” for March 4th, Nothing’s CEO took to X with a digital can of pink spray paint. He “vandalized” Apple’s invite, tagging it with the word ‘Nothing’ and a new date: March 5th.
The event, titled “Nothing Built Different,” will be livestreamed from Central Saint Martins in London at 4:00 PM IST. This launch is particularly significant because Nothing has confirmed it will not release a traditional flagship (like a Phone 4) in 2026. Instead, the focus is entirely on a refined mid-range offensive led by the Nothing Phone 4a and Phone 4a Pro.
The New Glyph Bar and Design
Nothing is doubling down on its techno-industrial aesthetic. The most hyped-up update is the Glyph Bar. Moving away from the segmented strips of the Phone 3, the 4a series features a new lighting array. Teasers show a cluster of nine individually controllable mini-LEDs that are reportedly 40% brighter than previous (a) series models.
Visually, the rear retains the signature transparent back but introduces a horizontal, pill-shaped triple-camera module. In a bold move for the brand, the 4a series is expected to move beyond monochromatic tones, with rumors suggesting vibrant new shades of Yellow, Pink, and Blue alongside the classic Black and White.
Power and Practicality
Under the hood, both the 4a and the 4a Pro are expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. While not flagship-grade in name, the integration of UFS 3.1 storage and a beefy 5,400mAh battery (with 50W fast charging) aims to deliver a performance that feels high-end in daily use.
Photography enthusiasts should look toward the 4a Pro, which is tipped to feature a triple 50MP sensor setup, including a Sony primary lens with OIS and advanced zoom capabilities that could reach up to 140x, a rarity in the mid-range bracket.
The Pricing Strategy
With the global RAM crisis driving up component costs, early leaks suggest the Phone 4a will start around ₹32,000, with the Pro variant likely touching the ₹45,000 mark.
Alongside the phones, we also expect to see the Nothing Headphone (a), a more affordable alternative to their premium audio gear.
